Melrose Industries plc (LSE:MRO) announced that its GKN Aerospace Garden Grove facility in California was released from the remaining mandatory evacuation on 26 May, after the Orange County Fire Authority confirmed there was no chemical leak and no risk to the public.

The site designs, manufactures and provides aftermarket support for advanced military and commercial transparencies, employs around 500 people and generated £136 million of sales in the financial year 2025.

The OCFA made the public announcement at 7.30pm local time on 26 May and a small, temporary restricted zone remains in place directly surrounding the facility while the company continues recovery work.

"The progress made in recent days is testament to the skill and dedication of all the teams and services involved," Melrose said.
