MS International (AIM:MSI) said the United States Navy, through the Naval Sea Systems Command, has awarded a three-year contract to its wholly owned subsidiary, MSI-Defence Systems US, based in Rock Hill, South Carolina.

It is the first multi-year contract the US arm has won from the Navy.

The sole-source award covers continued supply of MK88 MOD4 stabilised gun mounts, the US Navy version of MSI's naval gun mount, and MK48 MOD2 electro-optical sights, the Navy variant of its electro-optics system.

The contract takes effect immediately.

In the first year, the Navy has committed to buy 22 gun mounts and 23 electro-optical sights, worth $61.3m.

Quantities for subsequent years will be agreed annually, in line with the Navy's standard contracting structure for this equipment.

MS International, which designs and manufactures naval gun mounts and defence equipment through its Defence and Security division, said the award "reinforces the Company's confidence in its future position within the global defence market" and represents sustained growth in the US.

The company added that the deal "further demonstrates the US Navy's confidence in MSI-Defence Systems' ability to deliver world-class naval defence systems."
