Kier Group (LSE:KIE) told investors it has been appointed under a Pre-Construction Services Agreement to deliver the new H50 high containment building at the UK Health Security Campus in Harlow.
The London-listed infrastructure and construction group's appointment forms part of the UK Health Security Agency's wider £3.52bn programme to bring its specialist scientific facilities and headquarters together on a single site, with funding allocated under the 2025 Spending Review.
H50 will house laboratories for Containment Level 3 and 4 pathogens, among the most specialised and tightly regulated facilities in the health sector.
Early works under the newly activated PCSA are expected to begin from 2028, with main construction starting in the fourth quarter of 2029 and the campus complete and in service by 2038.
"H50 is a highly complex facility and, as a key delivery partner to Government, this is exactly the type of project where Kier's breadth of experience and expertise comes to the fore," said Spencer Baber, managing director for Kier Strategic Projects.
Kier points to a track record of more than 200 healthcare projects and major investment programmes across the UK, including its appointment earlier this year to deliver the roughly £500m Hinchingbrooke Hospital under the NHS Hospital 2.0 Alliance Framework.
