Metals Exploration (AIM:MTL) told investors that construction activities at its La India project in Nicaragua resumed on Wednesday, two days after an incident at the site killed a contractor's employee.
The AIM-listed gold producer, which operates the Runruno mine in the Philippines alongside the La India construction project, said work restarted across the whole site following a safety stand-down and sign-off from the relevant authorities.
The company-led investigation into the incident remains ongoing, and Metals Exploration said it is not aware of any material impact on the La India project as a result.
The incident occurred on 19 October during construction work at a leach tank, prompting the company to alert relevant authorities and close the site pending investigation.
The resumption comes as it targets first gold production in December.
