Vistry Group (LSE:VTY) announced it has appointed Helen Miles as chief financial officer and executive director, with Robert Allen stepping in as interim CFO with immediate effect.

The housebuilder, which operates through its Housebuilding and Partnerships divisions, said Miles is expected to join the board and take up her role during 2027.

Miles is currently CFO of Severn Trent, the FTSE 100 water company, a role she has held since July 2023 after joining the utility in November 2014 as chief commercial officer and later serving as capital and commercial services director. She has previously held CFO roles at HomeServe and Openreach, part of BT Group, and earlier worked at Bass Taverns, Barclays Bank and Compass Group.

The appointment comes as Vistry works through a strategic overhaul announced alongside September's interim results, when chief executive Adam Daniels set out plans to consolidate the group's regional footprint from 25 to 12, cut the owned land bank from 51,000 to 36,000 plots and target roughly 12,000 annual completions.

"Her appointment further strengthens the quality of our executive leadership and, together, our focus will be on delivering our recently announced plans," said Daniels.

Rob Woodward, Vistry's non-executive chair, said the appointment followed a comprehensive internal and external selection process, describing Miles as "a high calibre finance and business executive" who will help the board capitalise on the group's mixed-tenure partnership model.

Allen, who joins the board immediately as interim CFO, was most recently CFO of The Crown Estate for four years, having previously held the same role at Intu Properties and Crest Nicholson.
