Monday's small-cap news flow split cleanly between energy operators managing turnarounds and acquisitions, and growth companies confronting client caution head-on. Kistos Holdings held its full-year production guidance steady even as a planned Jotun FPSO turnaround dented third-quarter output, while Mind Gym became the session's cautionary tale, slashing revenue guidance as corporate clients pulled back HR spending. Elsewhere, Invinity Energy Systems moved to shore up its balance sheet with a £20m fundraise, and ProBiotix Health delivered the kind of profitable growth story investors like to see.

Kistos holds full-year guidance despite Jotun turnaround hit

Kistos Holdings (AIM:KIST) reported third-quarter pro forma production of roughly 18,500 boepd, down from 20,800 boepd in the first half, after a planned turnaround at the Jotun FPSO in Norway temporarily curbed output. Shares in the North Sea, Eastern Mediterranean and now Middle Eastern-focused producer fell 4.64% to 298.0p, yet the company maintained full-year guidance of 19,000-21,000 boepd, with year-to-date production to 30 September running at approximately 20,000 boepd.

Nine-month pro forma EBITDA reached roughly $280m, including roughly $75m from Oman, though the third quarter came in below the second as an inventory build and the summer turnaround weighed on the numbers. Cash and near-cash fell to $165m at 30 September from $259m at the end of June, with strong cash generation offset by the completion payment for the Oman Blocks 3 & 4 acquisition, heavy capital expenditure and roughly $32m of debt repayment; adjusted net debt widened to $101m from $23m over the same period.

The Blocks 3 & 4 acquisition from Mitsui E&P Middle East completed on 14 September and will consolidate into group results from 1 October, with production from the newly acquired assets close to plan on new oil from the Safi and AGW areas, while the related Block 9 acquisition is now expected to complete in the fourth quarter after the operator added a fifth drilling rig.

"The structure of the Omani offtake agreement means that in the event that oil prices fall, we will continue to benefit from higher prices for at least two to three months, further enhancing EBITDA," said Andrew Austin, Executive Chairman.

The widening of net debt alongside a near-$100m cash drawdown underscores how capital-intensive this year's Omani expansion has been, even as operational guidance holds firm. What matters now is execution: with Block 9 completion pushed into the fourth quarter and the Jotun turnaround behind it, Kistos needs the newly consolidated Oman production to deliver the cash generation that justifies the balance sheet stretch, particularly given the offtake structure's built-in buffer against falling oil prices that Austin is leaning on to reassure investors.

Mind Gym cuts full-year guidance as HR clients pull back spending

Mind Gym (AIM:MIND), trading at 5.875p, told investors it now expects full-year revenue of circa £25m, downgrading its outlook after corporate clients slashed HR spending in the first half. The human capital and business improvement group, midway through a transformation from episodic training provider into what it calls a strategic behavioural-change partner, said half-year revenue for the six months to 30 September will come in at £11.5m, down 15% from £13.5m a year earlier, as clients cut back amid uncertainty over AI, supply chain pressures and energy costs.

The adjusted EBITDA loss for the half is expected to widen to £2.6m, against a £1m loss in the same period last year, driven by the lower revenue and a higher proportion of lower-margin face-to-face delivery. Recurring licence revenue was the bright spot, rising 45% year-on-year to an expected £2.1m and reaching roughly 17% of total first-half revenue, continuing the shift toward the subscription-style model management is betting on.

The widening loss against growing recurring revenue tells two different stories at once: the legacy training business is shrinking faster than the new licence model can offset it. Until recurring revenue reaches a scale that can absorb corporate belt-tightening, Mind Gym's transformation narrative remains a bet on timing as much as strategy.

Invinity suspends shares to launch £20m fundraise

Invinity Energy Systems (AIM:IES) announced plans to raise at least £20m in gross proceeds through a subscription, an institutional placing and a separate retail offer, all priced at 10p per new ordinary share. Shares in the vanadium flow battery maker, last at 17.7p and down 1.67%, entered a capital access window at 7.30am, a voluntary AIM trading pause designed to help companies reach a broader investor base during a fundraise, with trading expected to resume once it concludes.

The company said it has already received strong indications of interest from existing shareholders and potential new investors to support the subscription and placing, though full terms will be announced in due course. Completion is subject to shareholder approval at a general meeting, with a circular to be posted once the fundraise has been finalised.

Pricing the raise at 10p, well below the last traded 17.7p, signals a sizeable dilution for existing holders, even as it points to urgency in shoring up the balance sheet. The scale of the ask relative to Invinity's market size suggests this capital is intended to fund growth commitments rather than simply plug a near-term gap, making the eventual terms and take-up the real test of investor confidence once trading resumes.

ProBiotix Health swings to EBITDA profit as sales jump

ProBiotix Health (AQSE:PBX) told investors that sales rose 36% to £2.68m in the nine months to 30 September, up from £1.97m a year earlier, with shares edging up 0.82% to 7.0775p. The life sciences company, which develops probiotics for cardiometabolic health, posted EBITDA of £0.15m for the period against a £0.25m loss a year earlier, while gross profit nearly doubled to £1.64m from £0.87m, lifting gross margin to 61% from 54%.

ProBiotix held a cash balance of £1.2m, which it said provides sufficient liquidity to fund planned activities. Chief executive Steen Andersen pointed to "the continued expansion of our customer base, growing pipeline of active sales opportunities and increasing commercial interest at key industry events, including CPhI in Milan and Vitafoods in Barcelona" as reinforcing confidence in the business, with the group's LPLDL probiotic strain underpinning a run of recent regional supply deals including partnerships with Nutrisan in Belgium and iProbio in Slovakia.

The swing from loss to profit on a 36% revenue jump marks a genuine inflection point rather than a one-off improvement, with margin expansion suggesting the growth is coming through at better quality. The string of regional licensing deals gives ProBiotix a diversified sales base that should make future growth less dependent on any single market.
