Oxford Nanopore appoints new business development chief

Oxford Nanopore Technologies (LSE:ONT) announced it has appointed Sebastian Kronmueller as Chief Business Development Officer, effective 4 January 2027, the London-listed molecular sensing and DNA/RNA sequencing group said.

Kronmueller will be based in the United States and will lead the company's strategy and business development functions, including key strategic initiatives and partnerships.

He joins from Philips, where he is Head of Strategy and Ventures, and spent more than a decade before that at Siemens Healthineers in senior strategy, business development and operational roles, most recently leading strategy and transformation for its global diagnostics business.

The hire adds to a run of senior appointments at Oxford Nanopore this year, following the arrivals of Chief Medical Officer Davide Manissero in August, Chief Information Officer Andrew Watson in June and Chief Development and Product Officer David Miller in September, as the company builds out leadership to support its push into regulated clinical markets.

"As Oxford Nanopore grows, we need to be increasingly deliberate about where we focus, where we partner and where we invest," said chief executive Francis Van Parys, adding that Kronmueller would help "accelerate and execute" on those decisions.

Kronmueller said he was drawn by the chance to "help turn that potential into further commercial growth and focused partnerships" at what he called an important point in the company's development.
