Oxford Nanopore (LSE:ONT) has appointed Davide Manissero as its first Chief Medical Officer and Andrew Watson as Chief Information Officer to support its expansion into clinical and regulated markets and to scale its data, software and machine learning capabilities.
Davide Manissero joins from Radiometer, a Danaher company, where he is currently CMO, and he previously served as CMO at QIAGEN and held roles at the ECDC and the WHO focused on infectious diseases and public health, and Oxford Nanopore develops nanopore-based molecular sensing and sequencing technology.
"Davide and Andrew bring deep expertise in clinical development, data and machine learning, strengthening our ability to scale our business and translate our technology into real-world impact in research and healthcare," said Francis Van Parys, Chief Executive Officer.
Andrew Watson joins from Mimecast where he leads AI and threat protection engineering and has held senior roles at Healx and Dyson establishing machine learning and biomedical research teams, and he will lead information systems, digital transformation, product software and embedding machine learning across the product portfolio.
Andrew Watson will join the company on 15 June and Davide Manissero will join on 3 August, and both will join the Executive team alongside Tina St Leger who is due to start as Chief People Officer in June.
Responsibility for the commercial function will transfer from Nick Keher, Chief Financial Officer, to Francis Van Parys, Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 July.
