Anthropic filed a confidential prospectus with the Securities and Exchange Commission, signalling management’s intent to keep the option of a public U.S. listing while the SEC completes its review.
The company, best known for its Claude family of models and the Claude Code coding assistant, said its revenue run rate has surged to $47 billion from roughly $10 billion a year earlier.
"This gives us the option to go public after the SEC completes its review," Anthropic said.
Anthropic has been building capacity rapidly and disclosed a major infrastructure commitment to rival SpaceX to use all available compute at the Colossus 1 data centre, with SpaceX’s prospectus showing a $1.25 billion monthly payment through May 2029.
The company has also navigated a Pentagon blacklist and ongoing litigation while rolling out Claude Mythos Preview and Project Glasswing for cybersecurity, steps that management says have driven private-sector adoption and senior-level government engagement.
The timing of any initial public offering will depend on market conditions and other factors.
