The Rank Group (LSE:RNK), the UK operator of the Grosvenor casino and Mecca bingo brands, confirmed on Wednesday that it has accepted a £5m regulatory settlement with the Gambling Commission in lieu of a financial penalty over historical failings at its Grosvenor venues business.
The settlement matches the provision Rank flagged in July and booked in its 2025/26 accounts, meaning there is no further hit to profits.
The group's preliminary results, published on 13 August, showed separately disclosed items of £22.9m, including the £5m Gambling Commission provision alongside a £6.5m loss tied to the previously flagged payment fraud in Spain, which pulled statutory operating profit down to £55.7m from £60.1m.
Rank said remedial actions linked to the compliance failings, already signalled at the time of those preliminary results, have now been substantially completed.
