SEED Innovations (AIM:SEED), the AIM-quoted investing company, said on Friday that its portfolio company Clean Food Group has achieved the first commercial launch of its fermentation-derived CLEANOil in a consumer skincare product, in partnership with Scottish skincare brand Raven Botanicals.
Raven Botanicals has become the first skincare company to formulate with CLEANOil, completely replacing traditional oils in its 24 Carat Oil to Milk Cleanser, with the ingredient providing high oleic acid content, oxidative stability and emollient properties.
Clean Food Group describes the launch as the culmination of three years' work developing its CLEANOilCell technology platform, a journey that began in October 2024 through a partnership with THG LABS to develop oils and fats from food waste as alternatives to agriculturally intensive ingredients.
The company secured regulatory approval in September 2025 for the ingredient's use in cosmetic applications across the UK, Europe and the United States, clearing the path from ingredient development into commercial formulations.
"Transitioning from R&D to consumer shelves in just three years is an important validation of our strategy and technology," said Alex Neves, chief executive of Clean Food Group, adding that the partnership shows "biotech is no longer a future promise, it is a commercial reality."
SEED Innovations reported a £300,000 follow-on investment in Clean Food Group after the year end to 31 March, part of a broader pivot from legacy biotech and wellness holdings toward robotics, AI and sustainable food technology ventures.
