Georgina Energy inspects Mt Winter site ahead of 2027 seismic and drilling

Georgina Energy told investors that its technical operations team, alongside contractor Aztech and ecological consultants, is on site at the Mt Winter prospect in the Northern Territory's Amadeus Basin this week, inspecting the wellhead and proposed seismic line locations.

The London-listed company is exploring and developing helium, hydrogen and natural gas permits in Australia.

The inspection follows Georgina's disclosure earlier this month that 2U/P50 prospective resources at Mt Winter stand at 234 Bcf helium, 214 Bcf hydrogen and 1.7 Tcf natural gas, a reduction from the 283 Bcf helium figure previously cited when it agreed land-rights terms with the Central Land Council.

Georgina plans an abbreviated seismic survey of approximately 190 line km to better define the stratigraphy, formation tops and target zones, since the existing seismic data at the site was last shot in 1981.

The company said modern seismic data will also better identify direct hydrocarbon indicators and accumulations of hydrogen, helium and gas. It expects to acquire the seismic survey early in 2027, with prospect re-entry drilling to begin by mid-2027, and said tenders for the seismic work have already been called from suppliers, with a formal drilling tender process to begin early next year.

Georgina said discussions with Harlequin Energy over funding the pre-drill seismic work are ongoing and positive, though subject to a formal agreement.

Chief executive Anthony Hamilton said: "Our team is on site for the week, and we look forward to drilling the Mt Winter prospect in 2027, following the successful confirmatory seismic, which coupled with the Hussar prospect re-entry well has game changing, company-making potential."

The site visit comes as Georgina's land-rights agreement with the Central Land Council progresses toward a final authorisation meeting with Traditional Owners planned for mid-November, the next step toward ministerial grant of the EP155 permit.
