Georgina Energy (LSE:GEX), a helium and hydrogen exploration company focused on Australia, has confirmed that contractors have completed the key pre-drill site works required ahead of the third-quarter Hussar drilling programme.
Finished works include clearing and grading of the drill pad, accommodation pad and camp site, along with repairs and widening of the on-site airstrip, which is now operational with a new wind indicator installed.
Seismic line access tracks have been cleared from the wellsite to the Gunbarrel Highway, and the highway section across to Wiluna has been repaired to a standard capable of bearing multiple semi-trailer loads.
A water well location on the drill pad has been selected to support water drilling ahead of rig mobilisation.
The contracted Ensign Rig 970 remains scheduled for mobilisation once the remaining levelling and compaction works are complete, with a spud date in September still on target.
The Hussar prospect, located in the Officer Basin in Western Australia, covers 300 square kilometres of areal closure and will be drilled to 3,200 metres, targeting the Townsend Formation and fractured Neoproterozoic basement for helium, hydrogen and natural gas.
Independent consultants have attributed net 2U Prospective Resources of 155 billion cubic feet of helium and 173 billion cubic feet of hydrogen to the prospect, with a combined potential in-situ value of US$55 billion.
"With 300 km² of areal closure, the Hussar prospect is one of the largest subsalt Helium, Hydrogen and Hydrocarbons prospects onshore in Australia," said chief executive Anthony Hamilton.
