Image Scan Holdings (AIM:IGE), the AIM-listed provider of X-ray screening and security inspection technology, said its wholly owned subsidiary 3DX-RAY has received two new orders for its MDXi-400 industrial X-ray inspection systems.

The customer is an established automotive manufacturer, and the systems will be installed in Korea and Brazil.

Both units will support quality assurance and inspection processes in catalytic converter production.

The orders take the total number of 3DX-RAY systems supplied into this application to more than 65 worldwide.

Image Scan said the business underlines continued demand for industrial X-ray inspection technology within an automotive supply chain still centred on internal combustion engines, even as the sector shifts towards electrification.

"Despite wider discussion about the future of internal combustion engines, manufacturers continue to invest in quality assurance technologies that support efficient production and consistent product standards", said Vincent Deery, chief executive of Image Scan Holdings.

The company classified the announcement as non-regulatory, noting the orders are not considered material to management's expectations for performance.

News Intelligence what this means for the company

Image Scan's 3DX-RAY subsidiary has won two orders for MDXi-400 X-ray inspection systems from an automotive manufacturer for catalytic converter production lines in Korea and Brazil. The company itself classified the announcement as non-regulatory and not material to management's performance expectations, signalling these orders fall below a threshold of significance for the business.

Investment case

The orders extend 3DX-RAY's installed base in catalytic converter inspection to more than 65 units worldwide, but the company's own materiality assessment limits what can be inferred about revenue impact or momentum. The announcement underscores demand persistence in internal combustion engine supply chains despite sector electrification, though this remains a secondary revenue stream relative to Image Scan's core defence and security X-ray business.
