Filtronic says trading in line with expectations as new contracts boost order book

Filtronic (AIM:FTC) said on Friday that its order book gives "significant revenue cover" for the current financial year, with trading in line with market expectations, as it unveiled a string of new contracts in space and defence at its annual general meeting.

The AIM-listed designer and manufacturer of RF, microwave and millimetre-wave components serves the telecommunications, aerospace and defence, space and critical communications markets.

The update confirms the $68.1m (£51.3m) follow-on order from SpaceX for Cerus E-band gallium nitride Solid State Power Amplifier units, disclosed at the start of October, which Filtronic described as its largest-ever single order.

That award builds on a prior $62.5m SpaceX contract for next-generation GaN E-band technology, taking the cumulative relationship value well past $130m.

Filtronic also confirmed two further contracts worth a combined $16m (£11.1m) with a US-based customer for prototype units destined for satellite deployment, part of a sequence of awards from that customer since the start of the year.

Beyond previously disclosed orders, the company said it has completed development of its first 200W Solid State Power Amplifier system, generating ten times the power of its existing Cerus 32 gallium arsenide product, aimed at medium Earth orbit and geostationary Earth orbit satellite constellations.

That development has already yielded a first contract with a US satellite manufacturer operating geostationary satellites in the Ka-band, an initial award worth $0.3m covering the development phase, with further orders expected to lead to production volumes.

Filtronic also completed its first Digital Intermediate Frequency product, demonstrated at the Plugfest industry testing event in Silicon Valley, which it said drew positive engagement.

On defence, the company secured three new contracts worth a combined £2.1m to supply next-generation technology for airborne radar systems, extending existing programme activity after growth in defence revenue during FY2026.

Filtronic also confirmed a £2m grant from UK Defence Innovation, secured in the first half of the financial year, to advance its chipset technology roadmap for ground-based and satellite payload systems.

The company said its contracted order book provides the board with confidence in delivering in line with market expectations for the current financial year, with increased visibility into future years.
