Avation (LSE:AVAP), the commercial passenger aircraft leasing company, has appointed Tony Romano as Chief Commercial Officer.
Romano joined the company in August and will lead its global airline marketing team. He brings more than 30 years in aviation, having held senior commercial roles at Nordic Aviation Capital, Airbus America and Bombardier Commercial Aircraft.
Most recently, he served as Vice President, Global Marketing, Americas at Nordic Aviation Capital, originating and structuring aircraft lease transactions across North America. At Airbus America, Romano played a leading commercial role in Delta Air Lines' order for 75 firm A220 aircraft plus 50 options and negotiated the Breeze and JetBlue memorandum of understanding covering 170 A220 aircraft.
Earlier at Bombardier Commercial Aircraft, he secured the manufacturer's first commercial aircraft order in South Korea.
Avation holds an existing orderbook of ATR72-600 aircraft available for placement through to 2034.
The board said Romano's industry relationships and transaction experience position him to support that placement, alongside lease extensions, remarketing and transitions across the wider fleet.
