Small-cap investors had plenty to digest on Tuesday, headlined by a sharp independent revaluation of Zenith Energy's Italian solar pipeline and a transformative $220 million acquisition by ACG Metals that adds a second cornerstone copper project to its portfolio. Elsewhere, Shield Therapeutics delivered a painful guidance reversal tied to its US commercialisation push, while a cluster of AIM industrials and consumer names, Focusrite, Gattaca, Likewise and Franchise Brands among them, reported steady or improving trading.

Zenith Energy's solar pipeline valuation nearly quadruples

Zenith Energy (LSE:ZEN) told investors that an independent valuation of its Italian solar development pipeline has climbed to EUR85.6 million, up 56% on the EUR54.7 million figure from March and up 211% since December. The London-listed energy developer said pipeline capacity has grown to 238 MWp from 173.5 MWp over the same period, with shares rising 7.13% to 4.178p on the update.

The valuation, compiled by Genoa-based consultancy Gruppo Amira, puts total agreed acquisition consideration for the entire pipeline at just EUR22.1 million, roughly EUR93,000 per MWp, meaning the portfolio is now valued at close to four times its acquisition cost. Average value per MWp rose to EUR360,000 from around EUR315,000 even after Zenith added roughly 65 MWp of newly acquired, early-stage projects; permitting-phase assets are now valued at EUR354,000 per MWp against EUR300,000 in March, while Ready-to-Build and under-construction projects climbed to EUR590,000 per MWp from EUR500,000. Zenith attributed much of the uplift to higher Italian forward power prices, quoted on the EEX at EUR173.96 per megawatt hour on 23 October versus EUR109.91 per MWh in late March, a roughly 58% rise, while noting the valuer has applied only a fraction of that increase to its figures.

"We have assembled 238 MWp of projects for EUR22.1 million, and they are now independently valued at EUR85.6 million, nearly four times what we have agreed to pay, without tying up our shareholders' capital," said Andrea Cattaneo, chief executive of Zenith Energy.

The structure of Zenith's acquisitions, consideration falling due only once permits are approved, means the group has captured this valuation uplift without committing meaningful upfront capital, a model that insulates shareholders from development risk while preserving leverage to rising power prices. Cattaneo's pointed remark that the market valuation ignores the pipeline, gas assets and arbitration claims signals management's frustration with a share price that, even after Tuesday's 7% gain, still trails the scale of the underlying asset revaluation.

ACG to acquire Nussir copper mine owner for $220 million

ACG Metals (LSE:ACG) announced a $220 million all-share deal to acquire 100% of Blue Moon Norway, owner of a 94.52% stake in the construction-stage Nussir copper mine project, sending shares up 14.79% to 1630.0p. The London-listed company currently runs the Gediktepe copper-gold-silver mine in Türkiye, which is mid-transition from oxide to sulphide production after producing first copper concentrate on 31 August, with full commercial output targeted for the first quarter of 2027.

Nussir, an underground copper mine near Hammerfest in northern Norway, is under construction with all permits already in place and is targeting first concentrate in the first half of 2028. On a 100% basis the project is expected to average approximately 18,400 tonnes of copper-equivalent production annually between 2029 and 2033, which would push combined output with Gediktepe above 50,000 tonnes a year once both operations reach steady state. ACG will hold 94.52% of Nussir at completion and expects to consolidate to full ownership shortly after.

The acquisition reshapes ACG from a single-asset producer transitioning through a technically demanding processing changeover into a two-mine copper story with fully permitted growth optionality in a stable Nordic jurisdiction, a meaningful de-risking event even before Gediktepe reaches steady state.

Shield Therapeutics scraps profit forecast as US costs rise

Shield Therapeutics (AIM:STX) told investors it now expects a single-digit US dollar million loss for the full year to 31 December, abandoning prior guidance for operating profitability, as the company absorbs the cost of taking full US commercial control of its iron deficiency drug ACCRUFeR. Shares collapsed 36.18% to 3.51p on the news.

The guidance reversal accompanied an unaudited third-quarter trading update showing group net revenue up 2% quarter-on-quarter to $11.5 million, excluding a one-off milestone payment booked previously. US ACCRUFeR net revenue rose 5% to $10.8 million, with average net revenue per prescription up 4% to $217, while ex-US revenue slipped to $0.7 million from $1.0 million in the second quarter and cash fell to $6.8 million at quarter end.

"We are positioned to realise the full economic benefits of the US transaction, with an expanded proven commercial organisation, improving prescription mix, strong product positioning and customer focus which we believe will support long-term shareholder value creation," said Anders Lundstrom, chief executive. Investors took a dimmer view: the scale of the sell-off suggests the market sees the costs of insourcing US commercialisation as outweighing near-term prescription growth, with the thin $6.8 million cash cushion adding urgency to the path toward profitability.

Oxford BioDynamics completes £9.15 million placing in full

Oxford BioDynamics (AIM:OBD) said it has resolved an outstanding £250,000 shortfall from its August placing, confirming it will now receive the full £9.15 million in gross proceeds, with shares at 0.11p. The precision diagnostics and 3D genomics company placed the 250 million shares in question at £0.001 each with three existing shareholders, with the consent of Vulpes Investment Management, the original subscriber that had yet to settle its allocation.

The broader £9.15 million raise came via 9.15 billion new shares at £0.001 each, approved by shareholders on 26 August and admitted to trading the following day. The company disclosed on 1 October that all proceeds had been received except the £250,000 tied to Vulpes' allocation, subsequently agreeing with Singer Capital Markets and Merlin Partners to extend the payment deadline to 30 October.

With the shares now reallocated to settling subscribers, the placing agreement has completed in full, removing a lingering funding overhang and giving the company clean access to the capital it needs to continue commercialising its genomics diagnostics platform.
