Corporate activity dominated the mining sector on Tuesday, headlined by a transformational $220 million acquisition that reshapes a London-listed copper producer into a two-country growth story. Elsewhere, project developers across Congo, Brazil, Greenland and Canada delivered a string of operational and exploration milestones, from completed bulk sampling and plant commissioning to bonanza-grade gold hits and new uranium targets.

ACG Metals buys Nussir owner in $220 million copper tie-up

ACG Metals (LSE:ACG) is to acquire Blue Moon Norway in an all-share deal worth $220 million, adding the construction-stage Nussir copper mine to a portfolio currently anchored by the Gediktepe copper-gold-silver mine in Türkiye. Gediktepe is mid-transition from oxide to sulphide production, having produced first copper concentrate on 31 August, with full commercial output targeted for the first quarter of 2027.

Nussir, an underground copper mine near Hammerfest in Norway, is already under construction with all permits in place and is targeting first concentrate in the first half of 2028. On a 100% basis it is expected to average around 18,400 tonnes of copper-equivalent production annually between 2029 and 2033, which would lift combined group output above 50,000 tonnes a year once both mines reach steady state. ACG will hold 94.52% of Nussir at completion and expects to consolidate full ownership within 12 months. The $220 million consideration represents around 0.59 times the $375 million broker consensus net asset value attributed to the Norwegian assets, with consideration shares issued at £18.70 each, the 30-day volume-weighted average price to 30 October, handing Blue Moon approximately 8.85 million shares, or about 27.6% of ACG's enlarged capital.

"The combination of the Gediktepe operations in Türkiye and Blue Moon's Norwegian assets is a transformational transaction that creates a fast-growing European copper champion with industry-leading free cash flow margins," said Artem Volynets, chairman and chief executive of ACG Metals.

With roughly $84 million of Nussir's initial capital expenditure already spent by completion and $126 million of funding still required, the deal shifts ACG's investment case from a single-asset turnaround story to a multi-jurisdiction copper producer with near-term cash flow from Gediktepe funding development at Nussir. The accretive pricing, well below consensus NAV, gives ACG headroom to absorb execution risk on the Norwegian build, while the enlarged share count dilutes existing holders in exchange for a materially larger production base. The structure also signals management's confidence in using equity, rather than debt, to fund expansion at a moment when copper economics continue to favour new European supply.

Zanaga wraps Congo bulk sampling on time and budget

Zanaga Iron Ore Company (AIM:ZIOC), trading at 3.2p, has completed the bulk sampling programme at its namesake iron ore project in the Republic of Congo, finishing on time and within budget. The campaign extracted approximately 30,000 tonnes of ore to build a 100-tonne composite sample from the hematite zone that underpins the project's planned Stage 1 operation of 12 million tonnes per annum.

The sample will now feed pilot-scale metallurgical test work intended to validate Zanaga's revised direct-reduced-iron processing flowsheet, a step the company says clears the way to move directly into detailed engineering and design. Funded from proceeds of May's equity raise and launched in July, the campaign marked the first major equipment mobilisation at the project site since 2014.

"The successful completion of the bulk sampling Programme represents a significant milestone for the Zanaga Project, constituting the first major equipment mobilisation at the Project site since," the company said, underscoring how long the asset has sat dormant awaiting a credible restart. Validating the DRI flowsheet is the gating step before engineering can begin, making this the clearest sign yet that Zanaga is moving from paper studies back toward a construction-ready plan.

Cadence's Azteca plant finishes commissioning ahead of schedule

Cadence Minerals (AIM:KDNC), up 4.4% to 4.7p, said joint venture partner DEV Mineração has completed hot commissioning of the Azteca processing plant at the Amapá Iron Ore Project in Brazil, finishing in 30 days against the 45-day window set by the Amapá State Environmental Secretariat. Cadence holds a 36.2% indirect interest in the project.

DEV filed the commissioning and Installation Licence compliance reports on 29 October, completing the submissions required for the Azteca Operating Licence application, which the project now needs before it can proceed to commercial operations and shipments. The plant has so far processed approximately 6,200 wet tonnes of feed to produce around 2,800 wet tonnes of concentrate, a mass recovery of approximately 45%, though commissioning ran on lower-grade accessible feed rather than the higher-grade material the plant was designed to handle.

The faster-than-permitted commissioning run strengthens DEV's case with regulators, but the licence itself remains the binding constraint on Cadence's path to revenue, until it is granted, shipments cannot begin regardless of plant readiness. The lower-grade feed used in testing also means recovery rates should improve once the operation transitions to its intended ore source, a detail that matters for how investors model near-term output.

Arkadian validates rare earth separation at Motzfeldt

Arkadian Strategic Metals (AIM:AKN), up 12.5% to 0.009p, reported that Phase 1 metallurgical testwork on a bulk sample from its majority-owned Motzfeldt Critical Metals Project in Greenland has produced rare earth concentrates using established processing methods. A preliminary flotation test upgraded feed from approximately 0.65% total rare earth oxides to a concentrate grading 13.37% TREO, roughly twenty times the feed grade, at 20.3% recovery from a single unoptimised stage.

A separate gravity separation test on the finer fraction produced a concentrate grading 2.24% TREO alongside 12.2% zirconium oxide, with recoveries of 39.9% and 59.1% respectively. The results apply to the Aries deposit, which hosts a JORC-compliant Inferred Mineral Resource of 340 million tonnes, making even an unoptimised proof of separation a meaningful data point given the scale involved.

"For a deposit of Aries' scale, showing that the minerals respond to conventional separation is the essential first step towards a processing route, and that is what Phase 1 has given us," said George Frangeskides, executive chairman of Arkadian. With conventional flotation and gravity methods both shown to work, the company can now move toward optimising recoveries rather than searching for a viable process route from scratch, a meaningful de-risking step for a 340-million-tonne deposit.

Jangada hits bonanza gold grades at Molly

Jangada Mines (AIM:JAN) reported bonanza-grade gold results at its Molly project, sending shares up 7.7% to 0.7p. The result adds a high-grade gold discovery to a company whose portfolio has centred on Brazilian iron ore and graphite, broadening its exploration narrative.

Bonanza-grade hits of this nature tend to draw speculative attention precisely because they signal the potential for a high-margin, low-tonnage operation, and the share price reaction reflects the market pricing in optionality on further drilling rather than any change to near-term cash flow.

Fulcrum's JV identifies eight uranium targets at Fontaine Lake

Fulcrum Metals (AIM:FMET), up 2.0% to 5.7375p, said its venture has identified eight uranium target zones at the Fontaine Lake project, expanding the exploration inventory available for follow-up work.

Multiple discrete targets at an early stage give the joint venture several independent leads to prioritise for drilling, reducing reliance on any single target proving economic and giving Fulcrum optionality as it plans next steps at the project.
