06:46 — FTSE 100 seen slightly higher after Wall Street and Asian markets climb
The FTSE 100 is seen firmer ahead of Wednesday's open, with IG's early pre-market quote marked at 10,902, up 22 points.
The move tracks a positive session last night on Wall Street, where the Dow closed up 181 points at 53,598, the S&P 500 added 26 points to 7,679, and the Nasdaq Composite climbed 0.67% to 26,154.
Asia carried the positivityty through into Wednesday, with the Nikkei 225 up 478 points, or 0.73%, to 66,335.
It comes as crude oil prices eased, with Brent down further, sliding another 1.5% at $85.95 per barrel, whilst WTI was off 1.73% at $80.62.
Sterling is a touch softer against the dollar, with GBP/USD at 1.3635, down 0.08%.
Gold is up ever so slightly at $4,700 per ounce.
Bitcoin added 0.72% to $79,097, and Ethereum is up 0.93% at $2,464, reflecting a broadly steady tone across so-called 'havens' and crypto alike.
Swissquote in its market commentary flagged that persistent energy and refined-product inflation could keep pressure on central banks even as crude prices ease, a dynamic worth watching given this morning's drop in indicative oil pricing.
