Bitcoin breaks above May highs as FTSE 100 holds 10,748 session peak #
Bitcoin has extended further to 84,535, up 4.16% on the session and now trading above its May highs on returning risk appetite and crypto inflows.
Ethereum meanwhile held at 2,716, up 2.69%.
FTSE 100 presses on as oil prices ease today's tension #
The FTSE 100 continued to press ahead, at a session high of 10,719.51, up 60 points.
It comes amid crude's retreat, with Brent indicated down 2.23% at $98.43 and WTI off 2.59% at $93.97, tracking hopes of a breakthrough in Iran negotiations that has taken pressure off inflation expectations.

Elsewhere, sentiments are more broadly cautious, pointing to continued rate uncertainty and geopolitical tension as still exerting upward pressure on oil and inflation expectations more broadly.
In London, banks and miners remain the engine of the move, with Standard Chartered (LSE:STAN) up 1.84% to 2,322p, a fresh session high and close to its 52-week peak, while Barclays (LSE:BARC) adds 1.75% and Lloyds 1.19%.
Antofagasta (LSE:ANTO) and Anglo American (LSE:AAL) are both up around 2%, alongside Metlen Energy Metals (LSE:MTLN) at 45.2p, though none of the sector's gains have extended meaningfully since the morning's reversal took hold.
Meanwhile, over in crypto, Bitcoin is a sharp mover, up 2.87% to 83,493, a marked acceleration, meanwhile Ethereum is up 2.08% to 2,699.85.
FTSE 100 pushes higher #
The FTSE 100 has pushed on to 10,698, up 39 points, or 0.37%, extending its advance well clear of both Friday's close and the earlier pre-market calls.
At 9:00, the index showed 75 risers against 15 fallers, a sharp read compared to Monday's tentative open.
Barclays and Lloyds are driving the move, up 1.75% to 470.3p and 1.19% to 110.243p respectively, having swung from session-low losses earlier in the morning.
Standard Chartered has joined the advance, up 1.84% to 2,322p and sitting at its session high, near a 52-week high.
Metlen Energy Metals leads the broader board, up 2.22% to 45.2p.
Antofagasta is close behind, up 2% to 3,730p, with Anglo American up 1.77% to 4,025p as mining names hold their gains from earlier in the session.
Halma has climbed 2.12% to 3,564p, at a session high.
British Airways owner International Consolidated Airlines Group is up 1.51% to 425.65p.
Among the fallers, Shell is down 0.93% to 3,506p and AstraZeneca has eased 0.51% to 12,436p, both still trading near their session highs despite the modest pullback.
FTSE 100 up slightly, but losers outnumber risers #
The FTSE 100 moved up only slightly adding around 5 points to 10664.
Metlen Energy Metals (LSE:MTLN) led the early gainers, up 3.8% to 45.9p.
Other mining and metals stocks were also higher, Antofagasta (LSE:ANTO) traded at 3751.8p, up 2.59%, and Anglo American (LSE:AAL) climbed 1.42% to 4011p.
Among the morning's early losers Coca-Cola HBC dropped 7.85% to 4248p, while Next (LSE:NXT) dropped 4.76% to 14,210p. Compass Group (LSE:CPG) and the banks are also under pressure, with Barclays (LSE:BARC) down 3.48% to 462.2p and Lloyds off 2.9% to 108.95p, both at session lows.
Among the early headlines, Craneware (AIM:CRW) posted flat revenue of $206m for the year to June, describing the performance as resilient despite headwinds from US healthcare billing rule 340B.
AstraZeneca (LSE:AZN)'s Enhertu has been recommended for EU approval in early breast cancer, and JD Sports has entered Mexico through a franchise partnership with Grupo Axo.
FTSE seen firmer at open as IG marks 10,682, up 30 points on Friday's close #
The FTSE 100 is seen firmer ahead of Monday's open, with IG's early pre-market quote marked at 10,682, up 30 points from Friday's close of 10,660.53.
It comes after a mixed end to last week on Wall Street.
The Dow closed Friday down 80.6 points, or 0.16%, at 51,697.44, while the S&P 500 added 11.68 points to 7,649.44 and the Nasdaq Composite rose 0.38% to 26,517.996.
Meanwhile, Asia traded firmer overnight, with Japan's Nikkei 225 jumping 882.75 points, or 1.38%, to 65,018.95.
The dollar index is slightly firmer at 100.32, up 0.1%, while gold slipped 0.78% to $4,390. Meanwhile, sterling is little changed against the dollar at 1.3376.
Brent crude is 1.77% lower at $98.89, and WTI is down 2.04% at $94.50 in early pricing.
Bitcoin and Ethereum are both firmer, up 0.54% and 0.87% respectively.
