Synectics (LSE:SNX) has secured Cyber Assurance of Physical Security Systems (CAPSS) certification for its Synergy platform from the UK National Protective Security Authority (NPSA).

The AIM-listed group, which supplies advanced security and surveillance systems, said the certification independently verifies Synergy meets the government's cyber security standards for physical security deployments. That matters for sales into critical national infrastructure (CNI), a sector spanning utilities, transport, policing, government facilities and public spaces, where cyber resilience is becoming a core procurement requirement.

Synectics said Synergy is now the only integrated security and surveillance platform from a UK-headquartered provider certified to the latest CAPSS 2025 standard.

The certification also adds Synergy to the NPSA's Catalogue of Security Equipment, giving it greater visibility to government departments and infrastructure operators seeking cyber-assured systems.

Chief executive Amanda Larnder called it "an important milestone in Synectics' continued development of secure-by-design technology", framing the certification as a step toward positioning Synergy as a platform that unifies surveillance with cybersecurity, data insights and physical security.

The company said the accreditation strengthens its footing in CNI and other regulated markets both in the UK and internationally, as buyers increasingly demand independently verified cyber assurance before procurement.

News Intelligence what this means for the company

Synectics' Synergy platform has secured CAPSS 2025 certification from the UK National Protective Security Authority and been added to the NPSA Catalogue of Security Equipment, making it the only integrated security platform from a UK-headquartered provider to hold the latest standard. The certification directly addresses a core procurement requirement in critical national infrastructure—utilities, transport, policing and government—where cyber resilience is now non-negotiable, and inclusion in the NPSA Catalogue gives the company direct visibility to government departments and infrastructure operators actively seeking cyber-assured systems.

Investment case

The certification removes a material barrier to CNI sales at a time when regulatory demand for independently verified cyber assurance is hardening. Combined with recent transport wins (including Stagecoach vehicles connected to Synectics' Transport Cloud Services) and strong North American gaming order intake, this positions Synergy to capture a growing slice of regulated procurement where cyber credentials are now table stakes rather than differentiators.
