Distil (AIM:DIS), owner of RedLeg Spiced Rum, Blackwoods Gin and Vodka, and Blavod Black Vodka, has received its first order through AIKO Importers, its U.S. distribution partner, to bring Blavod back into the American market.

The AIM-listed drinks group first appointed AIKO in April 2025, but progress stalled amid tariff uncertainty and delays to Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau label and liquid approvals, partly held up by U.S. government shutdowns.

Vodka is the largest spirits category in the U.S. by both volume and value, one of the biggest spirits markets globally, according to IWSR Drinks Market Analysis figures for 2024 and 2025.

AIKO's network spans 185 distribution partners across the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico, with retail relationships including Costco, Total Wine and Spec's.

Production will run through Inter-Continental Brands, the manufacturing arm of Fortitude Spirits Group, Distil's new UK distributor, marking the first production run under that agreement.

The shipment is expected to leave the UK early in the third quarter of the financial period ending 31 March 2027.

Blavod previously sold successfully in the U.S. before its former distributor withdrew during Covid lockdowns.

"We regularly receive requests for the product from customers and consumers, demonstrating strong brand awareness and demand," said Don Goulding, Distil's Executive Chairman.

Feliks Shekhtman, Managing Partner of AIKO, said the brand "has strong potential in the U.S. market" and pointed to prior success scaling brands including Clap Back Wine and DocHolliday Bourbon.

News Intelligence what this means for the company

Distil has landed its first U.S. order for Blavod Black Vodka through AIKO Importers after regulatory delays eased, with shipment expected early Q3 FY2027. This marks the brand's re-entry to America—where vodka is the largest spirits category by volume and value—and the first production run under Distil's new UK distribution arrangement with Fortitude Drinks, validating both the distributor partnership and demand for a brand that sold successfully in the U.S. before Covid withdrawal.

Knock-on
  • AIKO's network of 185 distribution partners and retail relationships (Costco, Total Wine, Spec's) provides immediate shelf access across a major market; success scaling prior brands (Clap Back Wine, DocHolliday Bourbon) suggests execution capability.
  • First production run under Fortitude agreement tests the cost and efficiency gains Distil expects from the arrangement; timely delivery will be material to momentum.
Investment case

U.S. re-entry removes a key execution risk and opens a high-value market for a brand with proven prior traction. However, the order is singular and shipment timing (early Q3 FY2027) is forward-looking; revenue impact and scale-up trajectory remain unproven.
