Great Southern Copper (LSE:GSCU), the London-listed company focused on copper-gold-silver exploration in Chile, has started an induced polarisation (IP) resistivity survey at its Cerro Negro prospect.
The survey comprises five lines totalling up to six line kilometres, infilling a previous broad-spaced survey completed in June 2025 that identified a chargeability anomaly along the Mostaza Fault Zone stretching two kilometres north to south.
Scout drilling of that earlier anomaly returned anomalous polymetallic lead-zinc-silver mineralisation, one of the results feeding into the current targeting work.
The new lines extend east to cover the Monolith silver-copper exploration target and west into the hangingwall of the Mostaza Fault Zone.
"This survey is a key test of the Monolith zone which exhibits Cu-Ag mineralisation identified in outcrop over a 700x400m area that is very similar in character to the high-grade Cu-Ag mineralisation discovered below the Mostaza pit", said Sam Garrett, chief executive of Great Southern Copper.
Establishing a link between the Mostaza and Monolith mineralised centres is intended to inform the architecture of the broader system ahead of Phase IV drilling.
Cerro Negro sits within the Especularita project, along the same structural trend as major porphyry copper deposits including Los Pelambres, Altar and El Pachon.
Planning and permitting for Phase IV drilling is at an advanced stage, with Garrett saying the company looks forward to announcing the start of drilling soon.
