Goodwin (LSE:GDWN) confirmed on Friday that its board has commenced a strategic review after press speculation about a potential sale of parts of its Mechanical Engineering division.

The engineering, castings and technology group said the review will consider options to maximise shareholder value while maintaining continuity for customers and other stakeholders. Those options include the potential sale of a substantial part of the Mechanical Engineering division, spanning GSC, GI, Noreva, Easat and Pumps.

Discussions are ongoing and there is no certainty a transaction will follow.

Goodwin said it will update shareholders on the review's progress as appropriate.
