Talisman Metals (AIM:TLM) has reported channel sample assay results from its Tirzzit copper project in Morocco, confirming grades of up to 2.62% copper following the discovery of a new outcropping mineralisation zone in July.
The AIM-listed exploration company said six of seven sampled channels returned values above the 0.3% copper cut-off grade, extending the mineralised zone's lateral continuity by 70 metres.
Copper grades across the channels ranged from 0.60% to 2.62%, with silver grades between 12 and 44 parts per million, and true thicknesses of between 0.90 metres and 2.78 metres.
The best individual result came from channel TZ-CH009, which returned 1.69 metres at 2.62% copper and 41.54 parts per million silver.
The company said the mineralisation, hosted in siltstones of the so-called "basal series", includes copper oxides such as malachite and silver-bearing chalcocite, and sits alongside anomalous barium, lead, zinc, cobalt and manganese, a signature the company associates with sediment-hosted stratiform copper-silver systems.
The new outcrop lies roughly half a kilometre from previously known mineralisation to the south, within an interpreted strike length of at least four kilometres.
"Given that the outcrop is about half a kilometre away from the exposed known mineralisation to the south, and that the total strike length is at least four kilometres, I am encouraged that we indeed have a large area of interest," chief executive Tim McCutcheon said.
The company said the new target zone is now a key focus for its planned drill campaign at Tirzzit.
