Talisman finds new copper outcrop at Tirzzit

Talisman Metals (AIM:TLM) said its geology team has discovered a new zone of outcropping copper mineralisation at the Tirzzit Copper Project.

The AIM-listed exploration company said the find extends the known mineralised zone to the east, adding up to 2km of potential strike length from historic drill hole TT6, which returned 11.40 metres at 0.60% copper from 72.80 metres depth.

The outcrop, which includes visible malachite, a green copper carbonate mineral that typically indicates near-surface copper mineralisation, was found north of the ridge marking the Tirzzit licence's northeastern boundary.

It emerged during a scouting operation ahead of a planned drilling campaign later this summer.

"Sometimes the best geology is uncovered the old-fashioned way, by mapping and prospecting", said chief executive Tim McCutcheon, adding that the discovery and similar known structures give the team confidence in the project's "size potential previously unknown".

The company has channel sampled the outcrops to assess mineral control, copper and silver grade, thickness and dip direction, data that will help define drill targets.

Assay results are expected within the next few weeks.

News Intelligence what this means for the company

Talisman's mapping team has identified a new copper outcrop zone extending the known mineralized area at Tirzzit by up to 2 km eastward, discovered during pre-drill scouting work. The find includes visible malachite—a surface indicator of near-surface copper—and channel sampling is underway to define drill targets for the planned summer campaign, potentially expanding the project's resource footprint beyond the ~4.6 km mineralized horizon previously channel-sampled.

Investment case

The discovery supports management's confidence in Tirzzit's "size potential previously unknown" and provides additional drill targets ahead of the Q3 campaign, but remains early-stage: assay results are pending, and the outcrop's grade and thickness relative to the company's prior channel-sample average (1.21% Cu, 1.25 m true width) remain unknown until results arrive.
