Tekcapital (LSE:TEK), the UK intellectual property investment group, said portfolio company Innovative Eyewear (NASDAQ:LUCY) has struck a strategic alliance with Taiwanese electronics manufacturer HTC Corporation.

Innovative Eyewear, listed on Nasdaq under LUCY and LUCYW, develops smart eyewear under the Lucyd, Lucyd Armor, Reebok, Eddie Bauer and Nautica brands.

The tie-up covers US commercialisation of HTC's VIVE Eagle smart eyewear line, which will be sold through Innovative Eyewear's Lucyd.co web store from September.

The glasses will come with US-based prescription lens fulfilment, including a free basic prescription upgrade at launch.

VIVE Eagle features AI conversation recording and translation through HTC's VIVE Connect app, camera management, hands-free voice activation and privacy safeguards that block recording when the glasses are unworn.

It marks the first product on Lucyd.co developed by an external partner rather than by Innovative Eyewear's own team.

"I truly feel this smartglass is superior to other camera glass options available today, and we can't wait to hear what the thousands of smartglass enthusiasts in our community think of the product," said Harrison Gross, chief executive of Innovative Eyewear.

Charles Huang, HTC's senior vice president of global sales and marketing, said the partnership would give customers "an amazing and seamless fitting and prescription experience" with the new glasses.

The VIVE Eagle is the second Red Dot award-winning smart frame to join the Lucyd.co lineup, ahead of its US launch in September.

News Intelligence what this means for the company

Innovative Eyewear, a Tekcapital portfolio company, has secured exclusive US distribution rights for HTC's VIVE Eagle smart glasses, launching via its Lucyd.co store in September. This marks the first external-partner product on Lucyd.co and expands Innovative Eyewear's addressable market beyond its own-brand offerings—a material step for a company that reported H1 2026 net sales of $1.77m and is already executing a 345-store Canadian rollout.

Investment case

The HTC partnership diversifies Innovative Eyewear's revenue streams and validates Lucyd.co as a distribution platform for third-party smart eyewear, reducing dependence on organic product development. For Tekcapital, the deal reinforces the portfolio company's commercialisation momentum, though the near-term revenue impact remains uncertain given Innovative Eyewear's current scale.
