Avon Technologies (LSE:AVON) said its Avon Protection unit has secured a fresh order worth approximately $12 million from an existing European NATO customer.

Avon Protection makes respiratory and integrated chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) protection equipment, one of the group's two business units alongside ballistic helmet maker Team Wendy.

The order covers Avon's FM53 full-face respirator, its Combination System Powered Air Purifying Respirator, and its ST53 Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus. The FM53 lets operators switch between protection modes in the field, while the combined package is designed to maintain continuous respiratory protection through longer or more demanding operations.

The company said the order further underpins its expectations for the 2027 financial year.

Chief executive Jos Sclater said the deal reflects a broader upgrade opportunity as customers move from legacy respirators to Avon's newer platforms, offering "lower burden, improved combat effectiveness and enhanced integration across CBRN systems".

Sclater added that demand across the European NATO customer base remains strong, citing an elevated CBRN threat environment, ongoing mask fleet modernisation, and growing customer focus on fully integrated CBRN capability.

News Intelligence what this means for the company

Avon Protection has secured a $12m order from an existing European NATO customer for next-generation CBRN respiratory systems (FM53, PAPR, and ST53 apparatus), the third material order win in as many months. The company frames this as validation of a broader upgrade cycle as NATO customers migrate from legacy respirators to integrated platforms, and says the order reinforces 2027 guidance—a statement that carries weight given management committed in June to publish new mid-term growth targets alongside full-year results.

Investment case

The order is material relative to HY26 revenue of $160.8m (7.5% of half-year run rate) and sits alongside a $10.8m NATO respirator order in July and a $20.1m Team Wendy helmet order in late July, suggesting Avon's dual-segment model is firing on both cylinders. The repeated emphasis on CBRN threat elevation and fleet modernisation across the European NATO base points to a multi-year tailwind, though the company's ability to convert this pipeline into sustained margin growth remains to be tested at the full-year results.
