Greatland Resources (AIM:GGP) has appointed Nick Strong as Chief Operating Officer, with the former Northern Star Resources executive set to join on 5 October.

The gold and copper miner, dual-listed on ASX and AIM, said Strong will take responsibility for both its Telfer processing operations and the brownfield Havieron underground development in Western Australia.

Strong's most recent role was General Manager for Hemi and KCGM Growth at Northern Star, where he spent five years across operations and growth planning following 14 years at Newcrest Mining, including as Mining Manager for underground operations at Cadia.

Separately, Otto Richter will step down as Acting COO and move into a newly created Chief Technical Officer role when Strong joins, shifting focus to strategic mine planning and technical studies including the West Dome Underground project.

Richter joined Greatland in 2021, led technical due diligence for the Telfer and Havieron acquisition, and has since overseen ore reserve compilation and mine planning.

Managing Director Shaun Day said Strong "has deep experience in overseeing large-scale underground and open pit gold and copper mines across Australia, and in planning and delivering large scale development projects," and credited Richter with steering "a strong FY26 and significant resource and reserve updates" during his acting tenure.
