Mining small-caps delivered two contrasting updates today, one an incremental step toward a resource upgrade at a long-running Swedish iron project, the other a fresh discovery angle at a young Nevada gold explorer. Beowulf Mining (AIM:BEM) confirmed mineralisation across its entire infill drilling programme at Kallak North, while London BTC Company (LSE:BTC) flagged historical antimony data adjacent to its recently discovered Black Star gold-silver find.

Beowulf completes Kallak infill drilling

Beowulf Mining (AIM:BEM), the AIM-listed exploration and development company, has completed its infill drilling campaign at the Kallak iron ore project in northern Sweden through subsidiary Jokkmokk Iron Mines, with shares at 10.48p, down 0.19%. The programme is a deliberate step in a familiar playbook for the company: converting shallow Inferred resource in the northern part of Kallak North into higher-confidence Measured and Indicated categories, the classifications that underpin bankable feasibility work.

The campaign drilled 1,072 metres across seven holes, and every hole confirmed mineralisation. Several were extended well beyond their planned depths after encountering wider mineralised intervals than the geological model had anticipated, hole KAL26004 was pushed 86 metres deeper than planned following consistently high portable analyser readings. Two other holes were stopped earlier than expected once the extent of mineralisation was reached, a pattern management said points to mineralisation extending further west and centrally at depth than the current model captures.

"The top priority infill drilling has now been completed with the objective of upgrading near-surface Inferred resource to the higher confidence Measured and Indicated categories," said Ed Bowie, chief executive of Beowulf.

Geological, geotechnical and structural logging is nearing completion, with core samples destined for independent laboratory assay once the company's £4.3 million financing concludes. That financing condition is the real gating item here, assay results feed directly into an updated Mineral Resource Estimate, which in turn underpins the Pre-Feasibility Study investors are ultimately pricing. The drilling result itself is confirmatory rather than transformative, but the signal that mineralisation may extend beyond the current model's boundaries strengthens the case for a resource upgrade once funding clears and assays land.

London BTC finds antimony potential at Nevada gold project

London BTC Company (LSE:BTC), trading at 1.6p, said the gold and silver mineralisation identified at its Black Star project in Nevada sits within the same mineralised corridor as a historical antimony occurrence immediately south of its claims. The AIM-listed explorer disclosed the original Black Star discovery on 15 July, when surface sampling returned grades up to 16.23 g/t gold and 50.5 g/t silver.

A review of US Geological Survey and Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology archive data uncovered a historical sample 120 metres south of the claims grading above 1% antimony, more than 10,000 parts per million, a result that exceeded the analytical method's upper detection limit when tested in 1985, leaving the true grade unknown. Antimony is designated a critical and strategic mineral by the US government, which has committed to a $12 billion stockpile programme backed by $10 billion from the Export-Import Bank and $2 billion in private funding; EXIM approved a related $2.9 billion loan in May. "A trend holding over 1% antimony and up to 16.23 grams per tonne gold is exactly the type of asset we want in our portfolio," said David Lenigas, chairman of London BTC.

The antimony angle adds a second commodity thesis to a project that was already generating attention on its gold-silver numbers alone. With the historical sample's true grade unconfirmed due to 1985-era testing limits, the company's next step will be to test the antimony trend directly on its own ground, a result that, if it confirms strategic-mineral grades, would position Black Star against a US policy backdrop actively rewarding domestic antimony supply.
