Beowulf Mining (AIM:BEM), the AIM-listed mineral exploration and development company, has completed its infill drilling campaign at the Kallak iron ore project in northern Sweden through its subsidiary Jokkmokk Iron Mines.
The programme drilled 1,072 metres across seven holes, all of which confirmed mineralisation, with the aim of converting shallow Inferred resource into higher-confidence Measured and Indicated categories in the northern part of Kallak North.
Several holes were extended beyond planned depths after encountering wider mineralised intervals than the geological model anticipated, including KAL26004, drilled 86 metres deeper than planned following consistently high portable analyser readings.
Two other holes were stopped earlier than expected once the extent of mineralisation was reached, a pattern the company said indicates mineralisation extends further west and centrally at depth than previously modelled.
"The top priority infill drilling has now been completed with the objective of upgrading near-surface Inferred resource to the higher confidence Measured and Indicated categories," said Ed Bowie, chief executive of Beowulf.
Geological, geotechnical and structural logging is nearing completion, and core samples will be sent for independent laboratory assaying once the company's £4.3 million financing concludes.
Assay results will feed into an updated Mineral Resource Estimate, which will subsequently inform the project's Pre-Feasibility Study.
John Meyer, analyst at SP Angel, who repeated a Buy rating with a 27p price target, in a note, highlighted that assays feeding an updated Mineral Resource Estimate and a subsequent PFS as the key forward catalysts.
News Intelligence what this means for the company
Beowulf completed a seven-hole infill drilling campaign at Kallak North, with all holes confirming mineralisation and several extended beyond plan after hitting wider zones than the geological model predicted. The company is now awaiting £4.3 million financing to conclude before sending core samples for independent assay, which will feed into an updated resource estimate and pre-feasibility study. This is a routine progression step: the drilling itself was announced in July; today's completion clears the path to assay and resource upgrade, but delivers no new numbers.
The infill campaign achieved its stated goal of converting shallow Inferred resource to higher-confidence categories, and the wider-than-modelled mineralisation in several holes suggests upside to the resource base. However, the investment case remains contingent on financing closure and the assay results themselves—neither of which are in hand.
