FTSE 100 edges to 10,635 as Wise slumps, Renishaw hits record high

08:20 — FTSE 100 edges to 10,635 as Wise slumps, Renishaw hits record high

Traders put the FTSE 100 on the front foot, with the index marked 32 points higher at 10,671.

Wise (LSE:WISE) is a notable early mover, down 6.67% to 845p, after its US national trust bank charter application was turned down, pulling the stock well off its 52-week high and back toward the bottom of its 754p-1,164p range.

Renishaw (LSE:RSW) has climbed 3.07% to 5,100p, after a trading update lifted FY26 guidance to £815m revenue and £167m adjusted pre-tax profit, record fourth-quarter numbers confirmed by the price reaction.

DiscoverIE (LSE:DSCV) was up 6.4% to 739.4p on a trading update flagging 31% order growth.

As the opening trades begin to tick, a quick look at some of the morning's notable stories on the UK wires.

Deltic Energy (AIM:DELT) has received NSTA consent in its recommended cash acquisition by NEO NEXT (LSE:NXT)+ Energy Upstream UK, moving the scheme of arrangement forward from the terms agreed on 7 May.

Team Internet Group (AIM:TIG) told investors, ahead of its annual general meeting, that H1 2026 trading came in line with market consensus, behind H1 2025 but ahead of H2 2025, even as legacy AdSense for Domains revenue continues to decline. The company will publish full interim results on 7 September.

Elsewhere on the tape, Kazera Global (AIM:KZG) has put forward a proposed shareholder return programme tied to its Aftan project, Macau Property Opportunities Fund (LSE:MPO) has issued an H1 2026 investor update, and Alien Metals (AIM:UFO) has released its West Coast Silver quarterly activities report.

Elsewhere, there was non-core deal news from HSBC (LSE:HSBA) and Reckitt Benckiser (LSE:RKT).

07:26 — FTSE 100 seen lower as global equities weaken on Trump-vs-Iran escalation fears

London's FTSE 100 is indicated lower in premarket, with IG Markets quoting the benchmark down 0.24% at 10,606.

It comes after the index was clipped 0.78% at Thursday's 10,633.1 close, as traders continued to price in an apparent further escalation in the Middle East conflict and fears that Wall Street's AI fever may be breaking.

Wall Street later deepened Thursday's losses, with the Nasdaq Composite closing down 2.3%, whilst the S&P was off 1.38% and the Dow finished down 1.06%.

In Asia, Japan's Nikkei 225 was down 2.9% overnight, at 64,493.

This morning, the price of crude oil has eased slightly after its recent push toward $100, with Brent crude indicated down 1.09% at $94.37 and WTI down 1.18% at $90.45.

The price of Gold is down slightly, 0.42% lower at $4,033.1, whilst Bitcoin is up 0.56% at $65,412 and Ethereum was up 0.36% at $1,883.76.
