06:45 — FTSE 100 seen higher ahead of Wednesday's open after chip rally lifted Wall Street
London looks set to build on Tuesday's momentum, with the FTSE 100 currently indicated slightly higher.
The premarket quote from IG Markets sees London's blue-chip benchmark at 10,600, versus Tuesday's close of 10,572.
Wall Street closed at fresh highs on Tuesday, with chip stocks driving the advance ahead of a wave of tech earnings.
The S&P 500 rose 0.89% to 7509.51, the Dow added 0.71% to 52205.84, and the Nasdaq Composite led with a 1.33% gain to 25848.168, on the back of a semiconductor recovery.
The CBOE Volatility Index dropped 9.33% to 16.91, its close pointing to a marked cooling in hedging demand into the earnings run.
Asia was little changed overnight following the Wall Street climb, even as Brent crude continued to firm, the Nikkei 225 slipped a marginal 0.02% to 66,216.
Brent is indicated up 0.67% at $89.74 and WTI up 0.83% at $84.99.
Gold has pushed sharply higher overnight, up 1.3% to $4,129.
Bitcoin is soft, down 0.8% to $65,973, with Ethereum off 0.49% to $1,919. The dollar index is little changed at 101.145, and cable is indicated marginally firmer at 1.3383.
