4basebio has appointed Dr Jeff Coller to its Strategic Advisory Board, effective 15 June, to help steer the company’s push to scale synthetic DNA for next‑generation nucleic acid therapeutics.

Dr Coller is the Bloomberg Distinguished Professor of RNA Biology and Therapeutics at Johns Hopkins and the inaugural director of the RNA Innovation Center, bringing more than 30 years’ experience in mRNA biology.

4basebio, a Cambridge‑based biotechnology company that uses enzymatic synthetic DNA to supply GMP‑grade templates for mRNA, gene editing and AAV production, said Coller’s lab discoveries on mRNA stability and translation and his industry roles will inform its work to deliver optimised, high‑fidelity DNA templates as it transitions to a new Cambridge manufacturing facility.

“The future of mRNA therapeutics hinges on the quality and scalability of the starting materials; 4basebio’s approach eliminates legacy plasmid challenges,” Dr Coller said.
