Panther Metals (LSE:PALM) has reported that early holes at the Awkward Conduit target in the Obonga Greenstone Belt, Ontario, have cut broad intervals of disseminated and veined sulphides within a varitextured gabbroic mafic‑ultramafic intrusive system.
Portable XRF taken from sulphide‑rich intervals returned anomalous nickel and cobalt values and the sulphides were visually dominated by pyrrhotite.
The programme is explicitly designed to test Panther's model for the base of a potentially tube‑like magma conduit, or chonolith, interpreted as the magmatic feeder to the Awkward Intrusion that hosts anomalous nickel, copper and platinum‑group elements.
Panther notes it has advanced Obonga since acquiring the Obonga Greenstone Belt in July 2021 and continues multiple high‑priority targets, with an Exploration Permit for Awkward West enabling up to 31 drill holes and historical intercepts including 27.2m at 2.25% total graphitic carbon (TGC).
High‑resolution magnetic and electromagnetic surveys remain active across the district to refine targets and the company provided this early update while attending the Quebec City Mining Investment conference, where it said it will discuss initial findings with investors and peers.
