BHP Group (NYSE:BHP) is dividing its President Americas role into President North America and President South America, the mining major announced, with a broader set of executive changes taking effect across July and September.
Jessica Farrell, currently Vice President Innovation, has been appointed President North America from 1 July, and will also hold the South America role in an interim capacity while recruitment for that position continues.
Edgar Basto, the current Chief Operating Officer, moves to a newly created Chief Enterprise Performance Officer role from 1 September, retaining accountability for health, safety and security, BHP's operating system, and contractor safety standards.
Geraldine Slattery continues as President Australia and will take on responsibility for Copper South Australia from 1 September, consolidating all Australian operating assets under her leadership.
The changes come days before Brandon Craig formally assumes the chief executive role, having been confirmed as CEO-designate by the BHP board in March.
Craig said the restructured team would provide "a greater focus on each of these regions" and position BHP to "deploy capital to the right opportunities in a disciplined way and deliver safe, reliable operational performance."
The full executive leadership team structure takes effect on 1 September.
