East Star Resources (LSE:EST), the Kazakhstan-focused gold and copper explorer, has appointed Sonia Scarselli as a director of the company, joining the board as Endeavour Mining's representative with immediate effect.
Ms Scarselli joined Endeavour in 2025 as Executive Vice President, Exploration, formerly served as VP of BHP Exploration where she founded BHP's Xplor programme (East Star was a 2024 cohort).
Her appointment follows Endeavour and East Star's November 2025 strategic joint venture for gold exploration in Kazakhstan and Endeavour's subsequent strategic investment (announced December 2025) which resulted in a £1.8 million injection and a 14.3% shareholding.
"Her strategic thinking will be a significant benefit to East Star and so we are delighted to welcome Sonia to East Star's Board as the representative of our largest shareholder, Endeavour," said Alex Walker, Chief Executive Officer, in the company's announcement.
