MedPal AI (AIM:MPAL), the AI-powered digital health and pharmacy group, has opened its new robotic dispensing facility at Sarus Court in Runcorn, having received NHS approval for the location.
The 23,000 sq ft site replaces the company's previous Runcorn facility and operates alongside its existing hub in Swaffham, representing its largest robotic distribution centre to date.
Processing begins immediately at more than 2,000 prescription items per day, with infrastructure designed to scale to over 10,000 items daily once fully commissioned, equating to more than 300,000 items per month at full capacity.
That figure compares with 142,011 monthly items for Well.co.uk and 87,992 for Boots, according to the latest PharmData leaderboard reviewed by the company, meaning Sarus Court's planned throughput would exceed both by a substantial margin.
The facility has absorbed over £1 million in investment across robotics, automation and MedPal AI's proprietary pharmacy technology stack, with the board targeting one of the lowest unit dispensing costs in the UK at scale.
"Sarus Court is a major statement of intent for MedPal AI," said chief executive Jason Drummond, adding that the facility provides "the operational headroom to scale" across NHS dispensing, private prescriptions and direct-to-patient fulfilment.
The facility is being commissioned in phases, with full operational capacity expected once the build-out is complete.
