Iofina (AIM:IOF), the specialist in iodine production and speciality chemicals, has signed an agreement with a new brine water supplier to increase feedstock to its IOsorb plant IO#11 in Central Oklahoma.
The additional feedstock deal creates a second independent brine partner for the site, and it is expected to raise crystalline iodine output at IO#11 by 45-65 metric tonnes annually, equivalent to roughly a 50% increase once fully operational.
IO#11, which became operational in July 2025, has installed processing capacity for the extra brine, and the deal includes constructing a pipeline to deliver brine and return spent brine to the supplier’s disposal site, with the partner managing most construction.
"By adding an additional brine water source to an existing facility with available capacity, we will be able to deliver incremental iodine production," Dr Tom Becker said.
Iofina expects to fully fund the project at approximately US$1.5m, with rapid payback anticipated.
