Tertiary Minerals (LSE:TYM) has released the last remaining portable X-ray fluorescence (pXRF) drill results from its Phase 4 programme at Target A1, part of the Mushima North project in Zambia.
The AIM-listed explorer said the results continue to support its previously reported near-surface exploration target of 15 to 30 million tonnes at 40 to 60 g/t silver, along with a zone of higher-grade mineralisation within what it calls the Discovery Zone.
Drill intersections included 7 million at 0.52% copper from 48 million downhole and 5 million at 0.57% copper from 66 million downhole, both supporting the higher-grade core.
Wider intersections, including 66 million at 0.30% copper and 68 million at 0.28% copper, back the continuity of the broader oxide target.
The company is reporting copper and zinc pXRF results in full but treating silver readings as indicative only, citing the technique's lower reliability for that metal; even so, values of up to 115 g/t and 144 g/t silver came in in line with expectations.
All 39 holes from the Phase 4 programme have now returned pXRF data, with selected samples submitted to certified laboratory ALS Global in South Africa for confirmation.
Managing director Richard Belcher said the recent discovery of copper mineralisation at the Western Zone, some 900 million from the Discovery Zone, points to potential for expanding the mineralised footprint beyond the current exploration target.
Initial metallurgical testwork is due to start imminently, ahead of Mineral Resource modelling, with certified laboratory results expected over the coming weeks.
News Intelligence what this means for the company
Tertiary Minerals has released final pXRF results from its 39-hole Phase 4 programme at Mushima North Target A1, confirming a higher-grade copper-silver core within its 15–30 million tonne exploration target and revealing a separate copper zone (Western Zone) 900 m away. The results are preliminary field readings; certified lab analysis from ALS Global is pending over coming weeks, and metallurgical testwork is about to begin—so the investment case hinges on whether lab confirmation and resource modelling validate the field data and expand the footprint.
The Phase 4 data supports the exploration target geometry and hints at upside (Western Zone discovery), but the company treats silver pXRF readings as indicative only due to technique limitations, and certified assays are still outstanding. Progress toward a JORC resource depends on lab results and metallurgical work; until then, the target remains unproven.
