Tekcapital's Innovative Eyewear launches lightest-ever smart glasses line

Tekcapital (LSE:TEK) said portfolio company Innovative Eyewear has launched its Lucyd Aero smart eyewear collection, aiming to close the gap between smartglasses and conventional frames.

The UK intellectual property investment group holds a stake in the NASDAQ-listed smart eyewear maker, known for its Lucyd, Lucyd Armor, Reebok, Eddie Bauer and Nautica branded products.

Frames in the new collection weigh between 1.0 and 1.2 ounces, with the lightest style at 1.0 ounce, which Innovative Eyewear says makes it one of the lightest smartglass ranges currently available from a US provider and comparable to many traditional frames.

The Lucyd Aero range is also the company's first collection with no visible buttons, switches or exterior lights, relying instead on two concealed touchpads, and the glasses are camera-free and only activate via touch rather than constant listening.

Connected to the Lucyd app, the frames offer hands-free access to ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini, along with walkie-talkie style calling, custom news briefings and translation features, at a launch price of $149.

"Lucyd Aero is truly an extraordinary frame because it looks ordinary; we don't believe any smartglasses before it have come this close to matching the look and feel of traditional eyewear," said Harrison Gross, chief executive of Innovative Eyewear.

The launch follows a run of growth at Innovative Eyewear, which reported preliminary unaudited third-quarter net sales of approximately $1.04m, up around 55% year-on-year and its highest quarterly total to date, with nine-month sales of approximately $2.8m already ahead of full-year 2025 revenue of $2.66m.

Innovative Eyewear is one of several early-stage technology holdings in its portfolio alongside Vesari, MicroSalt and Guident.
