Rome Resources finds new tin targets at Kalayi ahead of resource update

Independent modelling has identified two new mineralised zones and a significant undrilled extension at the DRC-focused explorer's Kalayi tin deposit.

Rome Resources (AIM:RMR), the DRC-focused critical minerals explorer, said independent modelling by MSA Group has identified two new mineralised zones, MINZ8 and MINZ9, at its Kalayi tin deposit.

MSA also flagged a significant undrilled continuation of the high-grade tin trend to the southeast of existing drilling, offering a separate priority target for resource expansion.

The zones are currently supported by only a single drill intersection, borehole KBDD033, which previously returned a 19.5 metre intercept averaging 0.52% tin, and will require further drilling before they can be included in a resource estimate.

As a result, MINZ8 and MINZ9 will sit outside the updated Kalayi mineral resource estimate that MSA is finalising, which will be announced separately.

Southern Geoscience is interpreting a recently completed airborne geophysical survey across the wider Bisie North project, with results expected by the end of September, aimed partly at clarifying how tin mineralisation relates to the granite contact near the southeastern target.

Rome Resources also reported encouraging grab sample assays from initial surface sampling at its optioned New Brunswick tin-tungsten-indium project in Canada, with follow-up trenching now underway.

"The identification of MINZ8 and MINZ9, alongside identification of a significant undrilled continuation of the high-grade trend to the southeast, gives us clear targets for the next phase of drilling and further resource growth at Kalayi," said chief executive Paul Barrett.

News Intelligence what this means for the company

Independent modelling has identified two new tin mineralised zones (MINZ8 and MINZ9) and an undrilled high-grade extension at Rome Resources' Kalayi deposit in the DRC. Both zones rest on a single drill hole returning 19.5 metres at 0.52% tin and will require further drilling before inclusion in a resource estimate; they sit outside the updated resource estimate MSA is finalising. The finding maps to the company's stated strategy of resource expansion at Kalayi, though the zones remain early-stage and undrilled.

Investment case

The identification of new targets supports Rome's exploration narrative at Kalayi but does not materially advance the resource base until drilling validates the zones. The updated resource estimate—which will exclude MINZ8 and MINZ9—remains the near-term catalyst; airborne survey results expected by end-September may clarify the southeastern extension's prospectivity.
