Tekcapital (LSE:TEK), the AIM-listed intellectual property investment group, said portfolio company Guident has struck a workforce-development collaboration with Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) to train students for autonomous transportation roles.
Guident specialises in remote monitoring and human-in-the-loop operations for autonomous vehicles.
The company has installed its GuideOn remote monitoring and operations technology at FSCJ's Downtown Campus, making it Guident's sixth Remote Monitor and Control Center (RMCC) worldwide.
The integration incorporates FSCJ's "Olli" autonomous shuttle, the sixth vehicle to be connected to the GuideOn platform.
The programme will give students, faculty and transportation professionals hands-on exposure to remote supervision, incident response, fleet analytics and safety monitoring, roles the companies expect to grow as autonomous shuttles and robotaxis move from pilots toward wider deployment.
"The future of autonomy is not only about the vehicle. It is about the people, systems, processes, and operating environments that make autonomous services safe, reliable, and scalable," said Harald Braun, Guident's executive chairman and chief executive.
Guident and FSCJ, which serves more than 46,000 students across Duval and Nassau counties, plan to develop joint curriculum content and explore further pilots in micromobility and remote monitoring.
Tekcapital's executive chairman, Dr Clifford Gross, noted Guident's US$2m fundraise in May and said the company continues working toward a public listing in 2026, which he believes could crystallise balance sheet value.
News Intelligence what this means for the company
Guident, Tekcapital's autonomous-vehicle remote monitoring portfolio company, has installed its GuideOn platform at Florida State College at Jacksonville as its sixth global Remote Monitor and Control Center, partnering on workforce training for autonomous transportation roles. The deal extends Guident's footprint in the US market and adds a training dimension to its commercial deployment strategy, though it is a pilot collaboration rather than a revenue contract; Tekcapital's executive chairman reiterated that Guident is targeting a public listing in 2026, which he expects could unlock balance-sheet value.
The partnership demonstrates demand for Guident's remote-monitoring technology and builds the operational case for its planned 2026 listing, but is a non-revenue educational pilot. It does not materially alter Tekcapital's investment case unless the listing materializes and the valuation justifies the parent's current stake.
