Aurrigo International (AIM:AURR) has been awarded £1.43m in grant funding from the UK Government to explore how autonomous vehicles can improve airport safety.
The AIM-listed transport technology company will deploy its Auto-Shuttle vehicles for tasks including security patrols, perimeter checks and inspections of runway and taxiway surfaces for cracks, wear or loose debris. The award comes through the CAM Pathfinder programme, a £150m UK Government initiative run by the Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade alongside Zenzic and Innovate UK.
David Keene, chief executive of Aurrigo, said the grant "reflects the quality of our autonomous vehicle technology" and would help free up airport staff for tasks requiring human judgement. He added that the award strengthens the company's technology leadership and supports the wider rollout of its autonomous systems across airport and logistics operations.
Mark Cracknell, programme director at Zenzic, said the projects funded through CAM Pathfinder "have the potential to transform UK businesses, create and safeguard hundreds of jobs and further strengthen the domestic supply chain."
