Critical Mineral Resources (LSE:CMRS) told investors it has appointed Addison Mining Services, an independent geological and mining consultancy, to prepare the maiden JORC Mineral Resource Estimate for its Agadir Melloul copper project in Morocco.

Addison has begun reviewing the project's geological, drilling and assay data and has completed a site visit to inspect the mineralisation.

The estimate follows CMR's 2025 and 2026 drilling programme, which concentrated on delineation, infill and step-out drilling at Zone 1 North.

The AIM-listed explorer, which is building a portfolio of copper and silver assets in Morocco, is targeting publication of the maiden estimate in October.

The initial resource is expected to cover drilling across roughly 5% to 6% of CMR's current permit area, excluding additional ground over which it holds exclusivity for future acquisition, with exploration continuing elsewhere across the project in parallel.

James Hogg, principal geologist and chief executive of Addison, said the consultancy was "extremely encouraged by the geology and mineralisation inspected, and by the target size potential at Agadir Melloul."

Charlie Long, chief executive of Critical Mineral Resources, called Addison's appointment "an important milestone" and said the maiden estimate would provide "an important technical foundation for the next stage of project development."

The company said it looks forward to updating shareholders when the maiden JORC estimate is published.

News Intelligence what this means for the company

Critical Mineral Resources has appointed Addison Mining Services to prepare its first JORC-compliant resource estimate for the Agadir Melloul copper project in Morocco, with publication targeted for October. The estimate will cover roughly 5–6% of CMR's current permit area, following the company's 2025–2026 drilling programme focused on Zone 1 North; this is a standard progression step from exploration drilling to resource definition, but the estimate itself remains forward-looking and carries no guarantee of economic viability.

Investment case

The appointment of an independent consultancy to prepare a maiden JORC Mineral Resource Estimate marks a transition from drilling to formal resource definition, a necessary foundation for any future development decision. However, the estimate covers only a small fraction of the permit area, and publication is still months away; investors should await the October result before assessing whether the geology supports economic extraction.
