Kendrick Resources has announced that initial analysis, using pXRF, of seven previously untested historical boreholes at its Kieshöhe target in the Bonya Rare Earth District, Namibia, returned an average 1.51 wt% total rare earth oxide (TREO); dominated by neodymium and praseodymium.
The result indicates the target could emerge as a major discovery alongside its Teufelskuppe project, according to Kendrick.
It added that selected high-grade intersections included 1m at 5.46 wt% TREO and multiple 1-3.25m intervals above 2.7 wt% TREO, every hole terminated in mineralised carbonatite or rare earth-bearing dykes and average borehole depth exceeded 85 metres.
Kendrick said Kieshöhe grades sit in the upper quartile of comparable hard-rock rare earth projects globally and, while marginally lower in grade than Teufelskuppe, it may offer substantially greater tonnage.
The small-cap exploration company’s internal valuation, pitched earlier this month at US$400m, made no allowance for Kieshöhe, it highlighted.
"Kieshöhe may represent a much larger rare earth system," said chairman Colin Bird.
The firm has now added drill rigs and intensified work to expand coverage, define lateral and vertical extents, advance resource modelling and complete laboratory verification of the pXRF results.
Kendrick expects to integrate Kieshöhe and Teufelskuppe as it pursues a combined resource capable of supporting a major long-term critical minerals development.
