GreenRoc Strategic Materials (AIM:GROC) has contracted Mineral Exploration Drilling Ltd (MEDL) to deliver a Phase III drilling programme at its Amitsoq graphite project in Greenland, and has engaged SLR Consulting Ltd to perform PFS‑level geotechnical and hydrogeological work.

The programme is designed to both test a northern extension of the Amitsoq ore bodies and gather the technical inputs required for a Pre‑Feasibility Study (PFS) planned to start in late 2026, according to the announcement.

Phase III will comprise up to 12 holes across four drill pads, with individual hole depths of about 130m to 285m and a programme total of roughly 2,200m. The holes will be drilled using an NQ3 triple‑tube system — producing a 45.0mm core versus standard NQ2 at 47.6mm — to improve core recovery in fractured ground.

SLR has previously supported GreenRoc’s feasibility work on both the Amitsoq mine and the company’s active anode materials plant; the new contract covers hydrogeological and geotechnical surveying and includes onsite training for GreenRoc crew in data acquisition procedures, the company said.

The geotechnical study will supply stope design parameters needed to test selected mining methods and enable resource conversion to reserves. The hydrogeological work will feed mine water management and safety inputs into the PFS.

Mobilisation is planned for mid‑June 2026 with completion in August 2026, and the programme will be overseen by GreenRoc’s geological team.

"I am pleased to announce the signing of agreements with drilling contractor MEDL and engineering company SLR to carry out a Phase III drilling programme at Amitsoq. The forthcoming programme marks a significant step forward in advancing Amitsoq to development, as it is not only designed to expand and upgrade our existing mineral resources but also to gather critical geotechnical and hydrogeological data for our upcoming Pre-Feasibility Study." GreenRoc's CEO, Stefan Bernstein, said.

Amitsoq’s current Mineral Resource Estimate, declared in January 2023 from Phases I and II, records Measured and Indicated resources of 7.38Mt at 21.21% graphite and an inferred resource of 15.67Mt at 20.04% graphite; whilst GreenRoc cites a combined JORC resource of 23.05Mt at 20.41%.

The Phase III drilling aims to test much of the northern inferred area with the objective of upgrading material into the Indicated category ahead of the PFS.
