Tekcapital (LSE:TEK), the UK intellectual property investment group listed on AIM, said portfolio company Innovative Eyewear (NASDAQ:LUCY) has begun a test rollout into more than 150 stores of one of the largest big box retailers in the United States.

Innovative Eyewear, listed on Nasdaq under LUCY and LUCYW, develops smart eyewear under the Lucyd, Lucyd Armor, Reebok, Eddie Bauer and Nautica brands.

Sales through the new retail channel are expected to start in October.

The rollout centres on Lucyd Armor, the company's smart safety glasses line, which combines protective eyewear with hands-free communication, translation and AI access.

"We believe one of the largest big box stores in the United States introducing our smart eyewear into more than 150 locations is a real vote of confidence in our most popular product line, Lucyd Armor," said Harrison Gross, chief executive of Innovative Eyewear.

Gross said thousands of workers worldwide already use Lucyd Armor daily and that the retail placement marks an opportunity to reach a national audience.

News Intelligence what this means for the company

Innovative Eyewear is rolling out Lucyd Armor smart safety glasses into more than 150 stores of a major US big-box retailer starting in October—a significant expansion of its retail footprint beyond direct-to-consumer and online channels. This follows a Canadian clinic rollout agreed in July across 345 locations, signalling momentum in physical retail placement for a product line that has driven the company's recent growth: H1 2026 net sales of $1.77m were up 71% year-over-year, with Lucyd Armor as the primary driver.

Investment case

The US big-box placement validates Lucyd Armor's commercial appeal and opens a mass-market distribution channel that could materially accelerate revenue—the company reported only $0.99m in Q2 net sales, so a 150-store rollout represents a step-change in addressable retail reach. However, execution risk remains: the test rollout does not guarantee sustained orders or profitability, and the company's scale is still modest relative to established eyewear players.
