HgCapital Trust (LSE:HGT) told investord it will invest in a new AI transformation company being launched with participation from Anthropic and angel investors, giving its shareholders direct exposure to the venture alongside other institutional clients of manager Hg.
The new company will formally launch later this year, and it is intended to help European businesses move beyond AI pilots toward measurable operational impact, building on Anthropic's Claude model with forward-deployed engineers.
HgT will back the venture both directly and through the Hg Saturn Fund, which pools capital from other Hg-managed institutional clients.
The move extends Hg's existing AI-led value-creation push across its portfolio, which the manager has said includes around 100 AI builders within its Hg Catalyst unit, more than 150 AI value-creation experts and over 1,600 identified AI projects representing an estimated $260m of budgeted EBITDA benefit as at 31 December 2025.
"This builds on Hg's early conviction in the transformational power of AI," said Steve Batchelor and JB Brian, Co-CEOs of Hg, adding they look forward to "further advancing Europe's position within the global AI ecosystem."
Steve Corfield, Head of Global Business Development and Partnerships at Anthropic, said businesses are looking for experienced teams to help them put Claude to work, and that Anthropic is "proud to invest in companies like this as they grow to meet that need."
Tuesday's announcement follows HgCapital Trust's commitment of approximately £20m to Nourish, a Bournemouth-based care management software provider, which is expected to close by the end of August.
