Ixico builds on Huntington's disease imaging research with consortium data

IXICO (AIM:IXI) on Thursday said it presented new Huntington's disease research at the European Huntington's Disease Network Clinical Research Congress 2026, examining methods to reduce unwanted variability in brain volume measurements taken across different MRI scanners, equipment and clinical sites.

The London-listed neuroimaging and biomarker analytics company, whose AI-driven IXI platform supports drug development and diagnostics in neurological disorders, found that stripping out measurement variability does not automatically improve the ability to track disease progression; preserving clinically relevant information in the data matters just as much, the research found.

The work drew on the Huntington's Disease Imaging Harmonisation (HD-IH) consortium dataset, a collaboration with biopharmaceutical companies and the CHDI Foundation of which IXICO is a founding member.

Through the IXI platform, IXICO has analysed more than 6,000 MRI scans from over 2,000 participants as part of that consortium work, building a body of evidence on Huntington's disease progression and the validation of imaging biomarkers.

"Differences between MRI scanners and clinical sites can introduce variability into these measurements, potentially making it harder to detect genuine disease-related changes," said Robin Wolz, IXICO's chief scientific officer, adding that the findings "reinforce IXICO's position in Huntington's disease".

The research lands weeks after IXICO's 20 October trading update, in which the company said it expects revenue for the year ended 30 September to reach £8.3m, up 28% from £6.5m in FY2025, ahead of market expectations, with audited results due in December.
